PE in Year 3 - Autumn 1

In Year 3 this half term we have been working on our continuing gymnastic skills and learning some new basic tag rugby skills as part of invasion games.

The children are developing increasing balancing, rolling and jumping techniques and use these skills individually and in combination. The children are developing their sequence work, collaborating with others to use matching and contrasting actions and shapes and develop linking sequences smoothly with actions that flow. The children are given the opportunity to perform in front of their peers to increse confidence.

Tag rugby is an invasion game and we have worked on understanding the basic principles of the attacking and defending of invasion games. In small fun games, the children have to think about how they use skills, strategies and tactics to outwit the opposition. In tag rugby pupils do this by maintaining possession and moving the ball towards the try line to score and we have simplified this to allow the children to work on their ball handling, passing and receiving technique.

It has been a great half term of PE, Well done Year 3!
