Welcome to Year 1

We hope you have all had a fantastic break and that your children are fully recharged, ready for the Autumn term.  It has come around very quickly but we are rearing to go!

A very warm welcome to Year 1! The children have made a great start to the year. They are getting used to the routines of Year 1 and have settled into their new classroom well. I am looking forward to our first school trip of the year visiting Ordsall Hall on Monday 13th November. 

Autumn Term Focus 

This term our topic will be,"Houses and Homes"

This term our learning will be based around the topic of ‘Houses and Homes’. This is great first topic in Year 1 and really introduces the children to the Year 1 curriculum. We will look at where we live, our local area and our country. We will explore homes of the past, compare them to our homes today and we will visit Ordsall Hall to see what life as a Tudor would have been like.

Reminders

PE will take place on a Tuesday and Friday and will be led by Mrs Hall. Please ensure your child has the correct PE kit available in school on these days (information about PE kit can be found in the files below).

Books can be changed each week. We have labelled the front of the reading logs to show which day each child can change their books.  

Homework will be uploaded to google classrooms on Wednesdays and children should hand in their completed homework in folders the following Tuesday. 

Spelling tests will take place on Fridays. The spelling lists will be uploaded to google classrooms on Fridays so they will have a week to practise.
