PE in Year 2 - Autumn 1

This half term our main focus has been on gymnastic and team building games. We have explored and developed basic gymnastic actions on the floor and apparatus. The children are developing their gymnastic skills of jumping, rolling, balancing and travelling individually and in combination to create short sequences and movement phrases. In KS1 the children develop an awareness of compositional devices when creating sequences to include the use of shapes, levels and directions and are learning to work safely with and around others and whilst using apparatus.

We have also worked on teamwork skills. We have looked at key skills of communication and problem solving and learned to discuss, plan and reflect on ideas and strategies. They have shown maturity by leading a partner whilst considering safety by using blindfolds! This showed just how well the children are beginning to communicate..

Well done Year 2. Lots more fun PE skills to come in the next half term :)
