PE in Year 1 - Autumn 1

This half term we have been busy working on gymnastic development and basic ball handling skills. And to make it topical to fit in with the KS2 children and the Rugby world cup, we have been using rugby balls for the first time!

The children have been able to explore and develop basic gymnastic actions on the floor and using low apparatus. Basic skills of jumping, rolling, balancing and travelling have been used individually and in combination to create movement sequences. The children have had the opportunity to select their own actions to build short sequences and develop their confidence in performing. They have explored the use of levels, directions and shapes when travelling and balancing.

We have been exploring and developing our fundamental ball skills such as throwing and catching. We have played fun basic games in pairs and small groups.

I'm looking forward to more fun PE lessons next half term :)
