Welcome to Year 5 

Autumn Term

Hello and welcome to Year 5 Amsterdam Class. I am Mrs Pammenter and I will have the pleasure of teaching year 5 this year. 

The Year 5 team this year will be: Mrs Pammenter, Mrs Afzal and Mrs Hall.

Our class topic this term is: Romans and Volcanos 

The first half term we will investigate the Roman empire and its impact on Britain by explaning how Britain became part of the Roman empire and what was its legacy. An exciting trip to the Deva Roman experience has been planned for Thursday 27th September. Further details will follow. 

In the second half term our journey will travel across to Italy where we will investigate the impact of Vesuvius on Pompeii and how volcanos affect the lives of people in Southern Italy today. 

Things to remember:

PE: will be on a Monday and Friday.

Please ensure that your child has an appropriate PE kit in school at all times. Please see the kit list in the files below. 

Book changing day: The children will need to bring in their school reading books daily and we will change them on a Monday and Thursday, where possible. 

Homework and spellings: will be given out on a Friday. Spelling tests will take place on a Friday. Homework will need to be returned Tuesday of the following week.
