Year 3 - Cardiff 2024 - 2025

Welcome to Year 3

Spring Term

Hello and welcome to Year 3 Cardiff class!

The Year 3 team is Mrs Novacki, Mrs Hall and Miss Burns

Please ensure you read our Year 3 Newsletter for the Spring term. All key information and learning is included within the letter which can be found in the files below.

Our class topic is: Stockport Now and Then

During this  term we are finding out about life is like in Stockport and the story behind some of its iconic buildings. We have explored the Air-raid shelters  through our visit in January and the children are thoroughly enjoying learning about how rationing, gas masks, air raid shelters and evacuation impacted on the lives of Stockport children during the 1940s. Next we will be finding out about why Stockport is so famous for its hats! We will also explore the journey of the River Mersey as we progress through the end of the academic year and into Year 4

Things to remember:

Children are not  provided with a playtime snack. Please send a fruit or vegetable snack in with your child each day and ensure that they have a water bottle!

Spelling books need to be in school every Friday. Spellings will also be put on the Google classroom each week.

(Additionally, you can practise spelling key words from the year 2 and 3/4 lists by clicking on the files folder below)

The important words for our topic this term are also listed in the files folder below.

Homework will be handed out on Thursday and should be returned by Tuesday. Homework folders are provided but tasks will also be on the  Google classroom, and can be returned through this if preffered.

Book changing day is usually Monday. Please try to read daily and ensure that diaries are signed by an adult. Five signatures each week equates to 5 dojos!

Please support us by returning books/homework on the correct day!

P.E this half term is is on a Wednesday and either Thursday or Friday. Some lessons are outside and some lesson times may need to be changed, so please ensure that children have appropriate clothing and trainers and that kits are in school every day.

For health and safety reasons, children are not permitted to join in PE without the correct kit!

Earrings must be removed for PE. Please provide plasters to cover new piercings until they can be removed.

Please ensure your child has the correct PE kit in school at all times as PE days can sometimes be changed. Please see the kit list in the files below.

Please can everyone bring in an old, oversized shirt or T-shirt to cover and protect their school clothes when we are doing messy art work. Thank you.
