STOCKPORT SHAPES PE AND SPORTS AWARDS 2023

This week the Stockport SHAPES PE and Sports awards took place at the Plaza in Stockport.

Teachers, children and parents from across the borough were invited to enjoy an evening of entertainment, Q&A with a very special guest, England rugby international Raffi Quirke and a number of awards presented to the winners by Raffi live on the stage.

Part of the entertainment was a dance of 'Thesesus and the Minotaur' performed by our very own Year 4's, who had been personally invited by the management of Stockport SHAPES after being so impressed by it a few months ago! And they certainly did WOW the audience with an incredible performance, Mrs Pammenter was bursting with pride :)

As a school we had a brilliant successful evening picking up not 1,2 or 3 but 5 awards to proudly display.*

* Commitment to school to club links

* Commitment to high quality PE

* Commitment to participation in PE, School Sport and Physical Activity

* And we were 1 of only 3 Schools in the whole borough to win GOLD standard in the Key Stage 1 Quality mark for PE!    

Mrs O'Hare and I nominated a number of children for individual accolades and 10 of our pupils received awards on the evening.

Spirit of the games awards went to - 

Zain (Y3) for passion

Amaani (Y5) for determination

Shanzay (Y4) for respect

Amy (Y4) for teamwork

Zayn (Y6) for self belief

Polly (Y4) WON the sports poem of the year and Iqra (Y4) was announced as runner-up.

Young sports ambassadors of the year were WON by Abyan (Y6) and Sam N (Y6)

Active Child of the year was WON by Harry (Y6)

These awards were for the whole of the borough of Stockport (there are over 80 Primary schools) so these really were incredible acheivements!

It really was a fantastic evening and showcased the amazing hard work, dedication and commitment our pupils here at PV show every day in PE, Sport and Physical activity. I was incredibly proud to be there alongside so many of our talented pupils.
