Pupil Premium

Dear Parent/Carer

Did you know that just registering your child for Free School Meals means that the School receives extra money? The Government gives money to schools to help children from lower income families achieve their potential. This funding is called a ‘Pupil Premium’.

For every child registered Prospect Vale will receive £1345 per pupil. With this money we could provide more interventions to accelerate your child’s academic progress as well as interventions to develop self-esteem, self-confidence and social emotional skills.

If you successfully apply, not only will it mean your child will receive a free school meal but we can also help in other areas. If you register for Free School Meals (even if your child does not want a school meal) it means that school will receive the extra funding which will benefit your child. All children in reception, year 1 and year 2 are automatically entitled to a free school meal, regardless of income (Universal Infant Free School Meals), but if you are on one of the benefits shown below then we would still ask you to complete the application form so that Prospect Vale receives Pupil Premium funding for your child.

You can claim for free school meals if you receive:

  • Income Support
  • Universal Credit (provided your household income is less than £7,400 a year after tax and not including any benefits you get)
  • income related Employment and Support Allowance
  • income based Job Seekers Allowance
  • support under Part VI of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999
  • Child Tax Credit only with an income of less than £16,190
  • the guaranteed element of Pension Credit

During the current pandemic being a Free School meals student also means that you will receive £15 per week from Prospect Vale if your child is isolating at home!

If you believe your child is entitled to Free School Meals please fill out the following for: https://www.stockport.gov.uk/start/free-school-meals-application-form
